Book of Gears item powers for a high level wizard?

Post by Surgo »

There aren't that many high-level item powers in the Book of Gears anyway, and most of them are tailored for not-wizards. I was wondering if anyone had some ideas of powers that a wizard would want.

A bonus to intelligence, a bonus to constitution, a bonus to dexterity, a bonus to Concentration, a bonus to initiative, free uses of various metamagic feats...

All that stuff is clear, of course. I was wondering more along the lines of actual Book of Gears-style powers -- stuff that wasn't just a bonus to a number.

Something that would let the wizard instantaneously swap out spells of various levels?

I expect wizards would want items that exceed the normal limits of spells.

At low levels, things like a Hat of Disguise work because it extends the duration indefinitely, and at mid to high levels you'd want something like a Crystal Ball because you can use it at will or a Ring of Spell Turning because it works without being exhausted.

So just find some effects you like, and extend them without breaking them. I mean, an Amulet of the Planes is not awesome because personal travel to other planes is awesome, but because you get around plane shifts need for a special tuning to fork to do it.
